En la 28ª entrega anual de los Critics Choice Awards, celebrada este domingo 15 en Los Ángeles, con Chelsea Handler como anfitriona de la ceremonia, brilló Everything Everywhere All at Once. La producción se alzó con los premios a mejor película; mejor director y mejor guión original para Daniel Kwan y Daniel Scheinert; y mejor actor de reparto por Ke Huy Quan. El filme llegó a la ceremonia en el Fairmont Century Plaza con 14 nominaciones.
Por el lado de la televisión, Abbott Elementary de ABC, líder en nominaciones (con seis nominaciones), fue elegida mejor serie de comedia. Better Call Saul, precuela de Breaking Bad de FX, ganó como mejor serie dramática por su sexta y última temporada. The Dropout fue nombrada mejor serie limitada.
A24 y HBO/HBO Max combinados encabezaron todas las cadenas y distribuidores con seis trofeos cada uno, seguidos por Netflix con cinco. Disney y AMC obtuvieron tres cada uno. ABC, Apple TV+, Disney, Focus Features, Hulu, Paramount, Roku Channel y Variance Films fueron los únicos ganadores múltiples.
Janelle Monáe fue honrada con el premio SeeHer, presentado por Kate Hudson, mientras que Jeff Bridges recibió el premio Critics Choice Lifetime Achievement Award, presentado por su coprotagonista en The Big Lebowski, John Goodman.
